Held in a supportive and caring environment, our group therapy sessions are an ideal complement to your individual therapy. They are facilitated by our qualified therapist and can run for a specific time or be ongoing for support and deeper therapeutic change.
What Can I Expect During Group Therapy?
A small group of approximately 7-10 people gather weekly to share experiences on difficulties they may be facing. Our therapist guides the sessions by answering questions, encouraging interaction, and ensuring the fair treatment of all individuals. Group therapy allows you to hear others’ experiences, share your own thoughts, and get support from others. Each group is brought together based on similar experiences and backgrounds.
What are the Benefits of Group Therapy?
- Hearing others’ experiences can help you realise you are not alone.
- Sharing ideas in a supportive forum helps to articulate your thoughts and feelings.
- Being part of a group brings accountability for the changes you are trying to make, making your therapy more successful.
- Group therapy allows you to work on relational difficulties in safe supported space.
Do I Need to Share Everything?
No. Whilst group therapy is very helpful, and confidentiality is mutually agreed, you may find that there are some things that you’d prefer not to discuss in these sessions and that’s your choice. You may prefer to discuss those issues in an individual therapy session instead.
I’m Worried about Confidentiality
One of the most important conditions for attending our group therapy is to agree to confidentiality of all discussions within the group. Group therapy sessions are an important way to for many individuals to get the most from their healing. If you feel that you aren’t comfortable in a group setting, then individual sessions may be more suitable for you, particularly in the short term.
