Counselling

What Counselling Is

Counselling provides a supportive relationship in which you can talk openly about your difficulties as well as your positive experiences in life. Counselling and psychotherapy are terms that describe a process of self-discovery through ‘talking’ therapy. Counselling is generally less structured than psychotherapy and is often used for issues that can be overcome within a matter of weeks.

Exploring your thoughts, emotions, and behaviour is central to the counselling process. During counselling, core beliefs about yourself and the world are examined to reassess their validity or appropriateness, enabling you to learn new and more helpful ways of being.

What Counselling is Not

Counselling is not advice giving! A counsellor will not lecture you with simple solutions to your problems or offer their own opinion about your actions or those of other people.

Instead, your counsellor will listen without interrupting or imposing their own values and beliefs on you. They will provide a safe space to help you explore and examine your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. This will lead you to create your own healing on your own terms.

How Can Counselling Help Me?

People often need a sounding board for their thoughts and feelings and it can difficult to do this with people that are closest to you.

The way we think has everything to do with how we feel and how we experience things. Mindful Synergi uses a variety of evidenced-based approaches to help you develop your self-awareness and reframe your thoughts, feelings and actions to create positive outcomes. By gaining new perspectives on your past experiences and present challenges, you can create long-term life changes. You can replace confusion with understanding and self-doubt with self-confidence.

Counselling can help in many ways. For example, if you:

  • Are experiencing negative self-thoughts
  • Regularly feeling angry, frustrated, stressed or guilty
  • Always feel exhausted
  • Are not being heard in your relationships
  • Feel victimised, or
  • Have withdrawn from your usual activities

Then counselling may be for you.

At Mindful Synergi we provide a professional, safe, and confidential environment with appropriate professional boundaries We also help you set clear goals and collaborate with you throughout the counselling process. We will support you to create fundamental and far-reaching transformations in your life.

Combining your psychotherapy or counselling sessions with some yoga is the best way to contribute positively to your healing. The connection between mind, body, breath, and movement aids recovery from issues like trauma, depression, and stress. Your Mindful Synergi counsellor can suggest the best program for your needs.
